Place Introduction
Jirisan Mountain, designated as Korea's No. 1 national park in 1967, has long been known as one of Samsinsan Mountain along with Geumgangsan Mountain and Hallasan Mountain, and it is said to have been called "Jirisan Mountain" because it is the southern evil of Silla's five evils. It is also called Bangjangsan Mountain after Duryusan Mountain, which means that Baekdusan Mountain descended the peninsula and continued to this place, and Bangjangsan Mountain, which means the place of a high monk who was enlightened from the Buddha. Gurye-gun in Jeollanam-do, Namwon-si in Jeollabuk-do, Hadong-gun, Sancheong-gun, and Hamyang-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do.span the army. It is lined with 10 high mountain peaks, including Cheonwangbong Peak (1,915m), Jeseokbong Peak (1,806m), Banyabong Peak (1,732m), and Nogodan Peak (1,507m), and six valleys such as Bamsagol Valley and Chilseon Valley, and 10 famous waterfalls such as Guryong Falls, Bulil Falls, Yongchu Falls, and Chilseon Falls. In addition, numerous hermitages and cultural assets are scattered, including large temples such as Hwaeomsa Temple, Yeongoksa Temple, Ssanggyesa Temple, Daewonsa Temple, and Silsangsa Temple.
