Place Introduction
Jeongnyeongchi, which has a legend of a general with the surname Jeong, is 1,172m high and is the pass of Jirisan National Park that spans Jucheon-myeon and Sannae-myeon, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do. According to the [Hwangnyeongamgi] of the Seosan Ambassador Hujeong (休庵 1520-1604), the spirit originated from the fact that the king of Mahan built and protected a general with the surname Jeong to prevent the invasion of Jin and Byeon.
The Jeongnyeongchi Rest Area at the top of the hill with the main ridge of Jirisan Mountain at a glance is an observatory where you can see Jirisan Mountain at a glance. Baraebong Peak and Bamsagol Valley to the east, Cheonwangbong Peak and Seseokpyeongjeon Banyabong Peak to the west, and Namwon's urban areas can be seen at a glance. You can see Ibaek-ri of Jirisan Mountain's main ridge at a glance.
Starting from Jeongnyeongchi, if you go hiking on the northwest ridge, you will see Goribong Peak, Segalsan Mountain, Buunchi, Palanchi, and Baraebong Peak, and if you go on the southern ridge, you will be connected to Manbokdae, Myobongchi, Goribong, and Seongsamjae. Jeongnyeongchi (1,172m above sea level) is the highest pass that can be crossed by car from Jirisan Mountain. The 12-kilometer course from the Jucheon-myeon office to Jeongnyeongchi via Naegi-ri is the best drive path to enjoy Jirisan Mountain in autumn.
As the best place for hang gliding, there is a Buddha statue group of Maaeyeorae, where 12 Buddha statues are engraved near the palace site. Gori Peak in the north of Jeongnyeongchi is known as the best place for hang gliding, and many hang gliders visit it. The Jirisan glide leisure sports equipment development project is being carried out with the aim of developing the spirit tree as an international glide factory and turning it into a tourism resource due to the rapid increase in the leisure sports population and the increase in glide clubs across the country.
