Place Introduction

A weaving weaver, the daughter of the Jade Emperor who lives in the sky, and a lowly cattle driver, Gyeon-woo, fall in love beyond social status. .

They got married, and because of their gay names, the Jade Emperor was angered, so the cowherd and the weaver were isolated to the east and west of the Milky Way and had to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month in the Milky Way without legs.

The meeting between the two was so painful that on this day, both the magpie and the crow on the ground climbed up to the Milky Way and made a bridge to meet the two. On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, it rains and crows and magpies cannot be seen for this reason.

The love between Gyeon-woo and Jik-nyeo in heaven is similar to the love of Lee Do-ryeong and Seong Chun-hyang, who have overcome the barriers of social status. The lake and Ojakgyo of Gwanghalluwon are the places where these legends are unfolded on the ground. So, Ojakgyo uses the characters crow oh (烏), magpie (鵲), and bridge (bridge).

In the 15th year of King Seonjo (1582), Jang Ui-guk, the governor of Namwon, repaired Gwanghallu and built a new bridge and called it Ojakgyo. Afterwards, Gwanghallu Pavilion was burned down during the Jeongyu Rebellion and was restored in 1626, but Ojakgyo remains as it was at the beginning. Ojakgyo Bridge is 57m long, 2.4m wide, and consists of 4 arched spans, and is the largest among existing Yeonji Bridges in Korea.

In addition, there is a legend that if you step on Ojakgyo, your marriage will improve, and since Chunhyang and Lee Doryeong's love is young, many people visit it. It is said that if a person who is not a virgin crosses the bridge, the bridge collapses. Like this, Gwanghallu and Ojakgyo are mingled with legend and love. Just as Lee Do-ryeong fell in love at first sight when Chunhyang saw Chunhyang swinging on the swing on Dano while sitting on Gwanghallu, her love began to sprout.
