Ahn Sook-seon was born in Sandong-myeon, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do.
From the age of nine she learned pansori from Joo Gwang-deok, Kang Do-geun, and Kang Sun-yeong.
At the age of 19, she moved to Seoul, where she gave Kim So-hee the pansori 「Heungboga」 and 「Chunhyangga」 and Park Bong-sul 「Jeokbyeokga」,
She learned 「Sugungga」 from Jeong Kwang-soo and 「Kangsanje Simcheong-ga」 from Seong Woo-hyang.
In 1986, she started a full pansori recital, and she won the Chunhyangje National Pansori Masterpiece Contest.
She won the President's Award, and she rose to the ranks of great singers.
She also learned the Gayageum Byeongchang from Gwihee Park.
In 1989, she became a semi-human cultural asset with Gayageum Byeongchang,
August 16, 1997 Important Intangible Cultural Property (Current National Intangible Cultural Property)
He was designated as the 23rd gayageum sanjo and byeongchang performer.
